Episode 01: Howdy Partners!

I grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. By the age of 17, I had been living in fear of a devastating experience with my mother’s mental health state and the loss from that situation. With lack of support, resources, and a broken health system, I leaned on myself to make a life that was worth the risk, surrounded by beautiful & calming moments in nature. With the help of great friends, a drive to persevere, and an optimistic mindset, I’ve created a life out west that I’m eternally grateful for. After sharing part of my story for the very first time on SickBoy Podcast, my mission was to create a space that opened up conversation to help improve the stigma, inspire others to discuss our realities, and taking advantage of the days that we have.

Everyone has a chapter they don’t read out loud.

I’m elated to finally put this community together. It’s been a long time coming. In our first episode, I happily set the stage of why Giddy Up was created, and what you can expect from this podcast. I dive into my experiences as a child, the realities of being human, facing challenges of growing up, and finding what really matters to me. Real, raw conversations that you can listen to in your living room, on the road, or in the grocery store. The purpose of Giddy Up is to help inspire more conversation about getting the most out of life and support the stories that are not told. If you don’t know me personally, I’ve taken many strides to carve a life for myself solely out of drive to survive.

I’ve learned the hard way the crucial importance of speaking up, and the negative impacts if you don’t.

I plan to use this outlet to make these topics more accessible and enjoyable. I’m excited to kick this off with you and I hope you’re here for the long haul!

Cheers, Marnie
